Vladislav Untu – Polina Baryshnikova are the new World Champions Youth Latin!

Vladislav Untu – Polina Baryshnikova from Moldova won the highlight of this year’s Austrian Open Championships, the World Youth Championship Latin. For Austria, Tim Grabenwöger – Natalie Cremar once again showed their class with their semifinal debut. They placed 10th, motivated by the home crowd. The second ÖTSV – pair Leon Mühleder – Liliána Farkas put on 44th place a strong World Cup premiere on the floor. In the second highlight of the day, the WDSF World Open Standard, Klemens Hofer and Barbara Westermayer were able to show a strong 12th place. Victory went to the pair Alexey Glukhov – Anastasia Glazunova from Russia. Tomorrow’s Sunday sees the closing of the 26th Austrian Open 2019 with four more competitions, the highlights being the 53rd Viennese Waltz competition which has been won by Klemens Hofer and Barbara Westermayer in the last three years.


Last year’s runners-up Vladislav Untu – Moldova’s Polina Baryshnikova were securing the win after five rounds. The newly crowned youth champions of the youth class were overwhelmed: “It’s great emotions, we are overjoyed and would like to thank everyone who believed in us and supported us.”

The silver medal secured German Pugachev – Ariadna Tishova from Russia. Behind the runners-up were Nitu Eric Marius – Iosub Antonia Ioana (Romania) in third place.

25th Austrian Open Championships

International dance sport highlight in Austria

From 16th to 18th of November 2018, the Multiversum Schwechat will once again be the venue for the international dance sport highlight “Austrian Open Championships”. As an annual major event, the AOC are among the most important and renowned dance tournaments in Europe.

This year the Austrian Open celebrate their 25th anniversary. Each November, the best dance couples from all over the world compete for coveted titles and prize money in the standard and Latin American dances.  The highlight this year will be the World Championship in Standard Dance (November 17, 2018).

 

World ranking list competitions

In its 25th edition, the AOC come up with 16 high-profile individual competitions in Standard and Latin including all grades and age classes. On each of the three tournament days there will be several finals and dance sport at the highest level is guaranteed.  The Austrian Open Championships are hosted by the Austrian DanceSport-Federation (ÖTSV), the organizer is the Vienna Dance Sport Federation (WTSV). The Austrian Open Championships are under the patronage of the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF).

 

World Championship of Standard

In addition to several WDSF Open and the World Open in Standard and Latin, the AOC will once again present an absolute highlight this year – the World Championship in Standard (Saturday, November 17th, 2018). The triple world champions Dmitry Zharkov – Olga Kulikova (Russia) are currently the undisputed king and queen of standard dances and have been unbeaten in the GrandSlam series for ten competitions. From an Austrian point of view, it is a matter of keeping one’s fingers crossed for the five-time Austrian champions Vasily Kirin and Ekaterina Prozorova and the vice Austria champions Václav Málek and Catharina Málek. A total of 81 pairs will compete in the World Championship Standard.

More than 2.000 dance athletes from more than 55 countries are awaited for the Ausrian Open 2018. They will transform the Multiversum in Schwechat into a center of attraction for international Dance Sports.

 

Viennese Waltz Competition

A special point on the schedule will be waiting for the visitors on Sunday 18 November, with the 52nd Viennese Waltz Competition. This contest is since years a traditional part of the Austrian Open Championships, the entry is open to all amateur dancers, licensed tournament dancers and students of the Austrian dance schools, as well as to all who love to dance Viennese waltz.

Amateur dancers can compare their skills to the best dancers in the world.

 

Hub of the international dance world

For the sixth year in a row the Austrian Open Championships will take place in the Multiversum Schwechat. The Multiversum Schwechat is one of the most modern halls in Austria and, with its premises and technical equipment, offers ideal conditions for major sporting events.

With its location just outside Vienna and in the immediate vicinity of Schwechat Airport, the location has proven its worth especially for international guests. Visitors and dance sport enthusiasts can look forward to a true dance feast, dance top performances and special shows are guaranteed.

Success Story Austrian Open Championships 2017

Since Sunday, 19. November 2017, 11:30 pm are this year’s Austrian Open Championships history. With over 6,000 visitors in four days, 1,000 dance couples from over 50 nations and the World Cup in the Latin dances, it is once again succeeded in setting up one of the largest dance sport events in the world. The highlight was undoubtedly the World Cup in the Latin American dances.
Four days of top-level dance sport, a World Cup and a total of 17 competitions – these were the Austrian Open Championships 2017 in the Multiversum in Schwechat. Once again, Hermann Götz, President of the Austrian Dance Sport Association, is able to draw a highly satisfied conclusion: “I am very proud that we have once again mastered the organizational challenges that an event of this size entails with about 100 volunteers to everyone’s satisfaction , Once again, we have more than lived up to the good reputation that the Österreichische TanzSport-Verband enjoys as an organizer and Austria as a venue for international events.
For 2018, great things are once again on the program, and Götz is already looking to the future: “Next year we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Austrian Open. For us, not just a reason to celebrate, but the aspiration to make the 25th Austrian Open even bigger, brighter and more attractive. With the commitment already made by the World Dance Sport Federation to host the World Cup in the standard dances in 2018, a first important step has already been taken. We are looking forward to the 15th to 18th November 2018, when we visit the Multiversum again with the AOC! “

International Dance Sport Highlight in Austria

From the 16th to 19th of November 2017 the “Austrian Open Championships” will take place at the Multiversum Schwechat. As a recurring annual big international dance sport event, the AOC are among the most important and prestigious dance competitions in Central Europe; this year it will be held for the 24rd time. Every November the dancers from every continent compete in Standard and Latin dances for the coveted title and prize money. As this year’s highlight, the world championships Latin will be held as part of the AOC.
World ranking list competitions

In its 24rd edition, the AOC come up with 18 high-profile individual competitions, in Standard and Latin, including all grades and age classes. On each of the four days of the tournament, various finales will take place and DanceSport at its best is guaranteed. The Austrian DanceSport Federation (ÖTSV) is, together with the Viennese DanceSport Union (WTSV), responsible for the organization.

Every year the best dancers compete for world ranking points at these competitions worldwide. World ranking points are collected. A sophisticated class system guarantees that only the very best dancers of a given country can participate in these world ranking list competitions.
Contrary to international championships in which only two couples can participate per country, at the world ranking list competitions all top dancers can participate. Therefore, there is an enormous concentration of top notch dancers in Vienna. The Austrian Open Championships are, therefore, the dance highlight of the competition year.

 

World Championship Latin

Vienna has repeatedly been the venue for international championships. This year, the best dance couples in the world will meet again in Vienna: On Saturday, November 18th, 2017 the World Champions Latin will be determined.

The reigning Austrian champions in Latin, Gustavs Ernest Arajs – Katharina Würrer and Hunor Sebesi – Jaroslava Huber will compete at the WDSF World DanceSport Championship Latin in Austria in front of their local audience.

 

Following the successes of recent years, the organizers are confident that this year, with two World Championships on the Austrian dance floor, new records will be set.

Viennese Waltz Competition

With the 51th Viennese Waltz competition, a very special program point awaits the visitors on Friday, 17nd of November. This competition has been a traditional part of the Austrian Open Championships for a long time. The participation is open to all amateur dancers, licensed competition dancers and students of Austrian dance schools, as well to all of those who like to dance the Viennese Waltz. Amateur dancers can compare their skills to the best dancers in the world.

For the fifth year in a row, the Austrian Open Championships will take place at the Multiversum Schwechat.
